Traffic court is held every Wednesday at 6:00
Criminal matters will be heard on the first and third Wednesday of the month and
Civil matters will be heard on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

 


 

DIRECTIONS TO PRINCETOWN TOWN COURT

     From West:   I-90 (NYS Thruway) east to Exit 25A.  Through toll booth.  Immediately exit I-88 at Exit 25.  Turn right on NYS Route 7.  Two tenths mile west past Truck Stop.  Town Hall and Court behind NYS Police Barracks on right.  Princetown Plaza is a cul-de-sac on the right on State Route 7.

     From South:  I-87 (NYS Thruway) north to I-90 West to Exit 25A.  Follow above West directions after Exit 25A.

     From North:  I-87 (Adirondack Northway) south to I-90 West to Exit 25A.  Follow above West directions after Exit 25A.

  

PROSECUTOR:   Schenectady County District Attorney represents the People of the State of New York.  He prosecutes all traffic and criminal matters in the Town of Princetown. 

PLEA PROCEDURE    How to answer a Traffic Ticket by Mail (Violations Only)

The Uniform Traffic Ticket allows for a plea by mail.  The Traffic Ticket must be filled out completely and signed. Send the Traffic Ticket to the Court's address listed above or on the bottom of the ticket. The ticket must reach the Court by the Date on which the Ticket is returnable; this date is below the Court's address.

Traffic Tickets charging a misdemeanor cannot be handled by mail.  

Consequently, a Personal Appearance is required. 


If Entering a Guilty Plea: (Section A)

     Allow up to three months for a response by mail.
     A fine amount will be assessed and a fine notice will be mailed.

If Entering a Not Guilty Plea: (Section B)

     Allow up to three months for a response by mail.
     A notice to appear for Pretrial Conference or Trial will be mailed.

     You need not appear on the original date listed on the bottom of the ticket,
     if you enter a plea of not guilty by mail.

IF YOU RECEIVED A SUSPENSION NOTICE

You should immediately contact the court to determine the reason for the suspension. If the suspension is for failing to pay a fine the payment should be remitted to the Court. If your fine is paid after your suspension date there is a $70.00 fee to lift your suspension in addition to any fine that may have been assessed.
