The Schenectady County Department of Economic Development and Planning is working with all of our local government bodies to update the current County Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan was developed to evaluate the probability and types of disasters likely to occur in our county and coordinate actions taken throughout the County to reduce the occurrence of injury, death, property damage, economic losses, and loss/damage to our natural resources.
The purpose of the meeting will be to review the draft plan and the hazards that are most likely to impact the Towns of Duanesburg, Princetown and the Village of Delanson. In addition, we will examine the Draft Goals, Objectives and Strategies that have been formulated in the plan to reduce the impacts of hazards in a cost effective manner.
The focus of strategies is to improve our ability to deal with Natural Hazards which include, but is not limited to;
Flooding
Severe storms (wind, tropical storms, hail, tornados)
Ice storms
Winter storm events
We would like your input on the proposed strategies/mitigation projects and are soliciting input on how we can prevent or lessen the impact of disasters, improve our ability to predict storm events, and how to prepare and recover from disasters in the future.
